What is the meaning / definition of AAA Five Diamonds Award?
The AAA Five Diamond Award is an independent hotel appraisal system rewarded by the AAA (American Automobile Association) to hotels in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. It can be compared to the 5 Star hotehotel classification system, known in Europe and other parts of the world. The term can be used for various hotel types including boutique hotels, resorts,and aparthotels.
Within the AAA Diamonds Award there is a 5 tier placing system that is implemented in the program. The number of diamonds a hotel receives is based on expected criteria in quality of service, amenities and style. Below you can find a general description of what is expected from a hotel in order to qualify for a diamond.
One Diamond: A budget-friendly hotel that meets the basic standards of comfort, cleanliness and hospitality.
Two Diamonds: A more than basic hotel that is modest in design, amenities and is priced modestly.
Three Diamonds: A more specialised hotel that includes physical upgrades, increased quality, more amenities and a higher level of comfort.
Four Diamonds: A upscale hotel that provides accommodation that has increased style, quality, design, amenities and hospitality service that pays attention to details.
Five Diamonds: Ultimate luxury hotels that provide first-class design, amenities and hospitality services that exceeds guest expectations.
Hotels receive diamond ratings to help people identify standard and level of services, without having to see the hotel for themselves. They thereby enable trust between people and facilitate trade. Hotel categorisation is based on a scale from 1-5, one being the lowest and five the highest standard.
