Enshrouded: Best Mage Build (2024)

Magic in Enshrouded is extremely powerful. A well-armed wizard can decimate entire groups of enemies and destroy even the toughest of bosses relatively easily. Mages become even more powerful once they pick up the right build that lets them sling spells with reckless abandon.

This Enshrouded mage build lets players continuously unleash devastating blasts of magic without worrying about mana exhaustion. If you're the type who wants to make things explode with great balls of fire, then here's everything you need to use, from armor sets to accessories and the Staff Charges you need to get in Enshrouded..

Updated June 7, 2024 by Marc Santos: The Melodies of the Mire update for Enshrouded brought with it some sweeping changes to the game's combat balance, including some heavy nerfs to mage archetypes across the board. The developers acknowledged that mages were too strong and too tanky for their own good, and they decided to reduce their power and survivability. While the following build remains mostly intact, players can expect the mage playstyle to be a lot weaker and slower than it was before.

The Wizard line greatly increases the damage you deal with elemental magic. Fire is the preferred element of this build simply because of the Radiant Aura passive, which makes all Fell monsters within 10 meters take Fire damage that scales with your Intelligence as well as the Sun Aura, Arsonist, and Pyromaniac skills. Meanwhile, the Quick Charge passives cut down the channeling time of staff spells by 50%, significantly increasing your DPS.

Meanwhile, the Battlemage line grants bonuses to wand attacks and mana regeneration, as well as access to Emergency Blink, which is an extremely helpful survival tool that lets you break out of stuns.

If you have extra skill points, use them to get skills like Double Jump, other quality-of-life improvements, and as many Intelligence nodes as you can. If you get any more points, grab the Water Aura skill so you can have passive HP regeneration.

What's New For Mages In Melodies Of The Mire?

Enshrouded: Best Mage Build (3)

Unfortunately, mages took a big hit in the Melodies of the Mire update. Staves and wands now deal less damage overall, bunny hopping with wands has been removed, and cancel timings with wand attacks have been increased, forcing players to commit to their attack animations for longer before they can start blocking. Also, Blood Magic can no longer be exploited to provide infinite mana and healing, and Water Aura no longer stacks with itself, meaning players with the ability will no longer get increased healing if they stand next to each other.

Despite these nerfs, the build remains mostly the same in terms of skills. Pure mage players will now have to rely more on their wands to regenerate their mana, and item stats are now much more important.

Recommended Gear

Enshrouded: Best Mage Build (4)
  • Armor: Elder/Archmage
  • Ring: Commander's Ring or Ring of the Ancients
  • Weapon: Shroud Weaver Staff
  • Spell: Eternal Fireball

The Elder and Archmage Sets are the best armor sets for mages in Enshrouded early access. They have comparable stats that increase your damage with magic while providing extra mana, mana regeneration, and your standard host of defensive stats like health and armor. The Elder Set can be farmed in the Sun Temple in the Kindlewastes, while the Archmage set can be crafted by the Alchemist.

For weapons, the Shroud Weaver staff is the best one you can use for this build. It gives up to +18 Fire damage as well as extra critical hit chance and backstab damage. To get the most out of it, craft the Eternal Fireball spell or get Fireball II Staff Charges from chests. You can get Shroud Weaver from a chest in the Kindlewastes, near the Sun Temple.

Previously, two Rings of Rapacity were enough to solve all your mana issues. Now that this ring was nerfed, players will need to rely more on their wand plus the Unity skill to regain their mana. Weapons with mana leech are also great to compensate for the Ring of Rapacity nerf. Use either Commander's Ring for +30 HP and mana, or Ring of the Ancients for +1 to all stats.
