Exciting news! HonorHealth's Corporate Office is thrilled to be one of the first Blue Zones Project Approved™ worksites in Arizona!Earlier today, we celebrated this first step in our Blue Zones journey with a ribbon cutting and Desert Mission farm stand. 🌿 🥕 🌽HonorHealth is doing more than just putting our name behind the Blue Zones Project Scottsdale initiative to improve community well-being, resilience and economic vitality. We are pursuing a network-wide worksite certification that includes every HonorHealth facility to support the health and well-being of our team members and the communities we serve. We look forward to celebrating (again) when we become the first system-wide Blue Zones certified healthcare worksite in Arizona! 🌵

HonorHealth is the first healthcare system in Arizona to treat patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia, a severe form of peripheral artery disease, using a minimally invasive technique to bypass blocked arteries in the leg and restore blood flow to the foot. Prior to this technique, patients were considered no-option cases, which often led to amputation of the foot or leg: https://bit.ly/3Vx5fJvHasan Aldailami, MD, and Avigayil Ribner, MD, were part of the multi-disciplinary team that completed the first procedure at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center.

HonorHealth is the first healthcare system in Arizona using Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS) technology to treat patients with complex aortic aneurysms. The technology uses 3D, real-time color visualizations for advanced imagery that improves upon the 2D, grayscale images previously available using X-ray alone: https://bit.ly/3V4BQ90“We expect that time could be significantly reduced, leading to less time for the patients to be under anesthesia, less dye and less radiation in the operating room. More importantly, it should lead to faster recovery and less pain for our patients," says Venkatesh Ramaiah MD, FACS, chief of vascular surgery at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, divisional director of research and innovation at HonorHealth Heart Care and principal investigator at HonorHealth Research Institute.

Henry Huynh’s decade-plus active military duty will end this July. HonorHealth’s Skillbridge program is helping to guide his transition to a new mission as a logistics lead at Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center.“The Skillbridge program has helped me to find experience in the healthcare setting,” Henry says. “Everyone has been so welcoming, sharing stories with me on how things may be different and how I’m not alone.”Henry was paired with Dave Potts, BSN, Air Force IDMT (Ret.), clinical director, Employee Health, who is a veteran of 24 years. As Henry’s “Battle Buddy”, Dave acts as a mentor with a similar background.“The transition into a less defined structure can be challenging to navigate without guidance,” Dave explains. “I see this as one way for me to give support and possible guidance to the greatest assets the military has, its people.”Henry’s also joined the V.E.T.S. People Resource Group, another HonorHealth resource to support our team members. Like in the military, people are our greatest asset and helping each other is what we do at HonorHealth.
