    Bombay Sandwich Masala

This is one of the special powder which is used all over Mumbai street shops for their sandwiches. I came across this recipe from my favourite cookbook of Tarla dalal and i tried it immediately. It turned out so yummy and i loved it to the core.

I made several sandwiches using this powder and it turned out so yummy. I loved the tangy spicy taste which the powder gave to the sandwiches and it transformed the plain veg sandwich to a new level. Hope you will try this out, so you can try out my sandwich recipes which will be shared in the coming post..

How to toast a sandwich at home? ›

Preheat your oven to around 350 degrees Fahrenheit, then toast the bread on a sheet pan or directly on the baking racks. You can also assemble your two pieces of bread with the sandwich ingredients on top, like an open-faced tartine, and toast the entire thing using that method.

What's the difference between masala and garam masala? ›

It's at once utterly confusing and incredibly simple. Masala means mixture of spices. So, a mixture of warming spices roasted and then ground down to a fine powder is a Garam Masala. A mixture of spices that are slightly tart and perfect paired with chickpeas roasted and ground down is a Chana Masala.

Is garam masala the same as meat masala? ›

Meat masala has different ingredients than garam masala. Garam masala only includes powders of cumin, big and small cardamom, cinnamon, and black pepper. However, meat masala also contains different ingredients, such as coriander, red chilli, garlic, dried ginger, mace and asafoetida.

Is chicken tikka masala high in calories? ›

It's one of the most-ordered entrees at Indian joints. But like many Indian dishes that were originally low fat, the modern recipe for chicken tikka masala is anything but. An average portion has whopping 1,249 calories and 90.8 grams of fat. A lot of that comes from the ghee and heavy cream.

What are the 3 main ingredients in sandwich making? ›

There are 3 main components of a sandwich: the bread, the spread, and the filling.

What is the secret of good sandwich? ›

Moisture is important. Nobody wants a dry sandwich, so be generous with the sauces and spreads. Freshly-made sandwiches are usually the best sandwiches, but that's not always possible - so think about how well your ingredients are going to last the distance (e.g. if the filling is too wet, will the bread get soggy?)

Do you put mayo before or after toasting? ›

To ensure golden (not burned) toastiness, the exterior of the sandwich should be slicked with mayonnaise, which has a higher smoke point and possesses the combined browning power of oil and egg yolks. When mayo-slicked slices of bread meet butter-slicked pan, that's what makes crispy magic.

What is toast called in England? ›

We call it “toast” and it's a serious subject in the U.K. I grew up in house divided by toast. Four of us liked toast done of both sides, my younger brother just on one.

What is the best melting cheese for grilled cheese? ›

    Comté/Raclette/Gruyère

(Raclette actually comes from the French verb “racler” which means “to scrape.”) These are also the cheeses used for fondues and French onion soups, so it follows that they are also some of the best options for gooey grilled cheese sandwiches.

What is masala sauce made of? ›

Tikka masala is a tomato and cream (either in the form of heavy cream, yogurt or cashews) based sauce with lots of traditional Indian spices, including ginger, turmeric and red chili powder (to give it that quintessential orange-hue), garam masala, coriander and cumin. It is slightly sweet and earthy in flavor.

What does masala taste like? ›

What Does It Taste Like? Garam masala adds warmth, sweetness, floral notes, and a touch of heat from the black pepper. It is intended to be a fragrant spice as well as flavorful. While cumin, coriander, and turmeric may remind you of curry, garam masala is generally not firey hot.

Tikka Masala Sauce is basically a tangy spicy onion tomato sauce that has a dash of sweetness. It is frequently served with other dishes like paneer, chicken, chickpeas, and multiple vegetables in restaurants like Tikka's N's Curry's.

What does masala mean in Indian food? ›
